Iran’s Defense Advances Make Any Attack “High‑Risk,” Says IRGC Deputy Chief

IRGC deputy commander Ahmad Vahidi said Iran’s defense advancements have made any military attack extremely risky and difficult for adversaries to calculate. He emphasized that Western pressure, sanctions, and psychological warfare have failed, instead strengthening Iran’s resilience and deterrence.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran’s growing defense capabilities have reshaped the strategic environment, making any military aggression against the country “high‑risk and extremely difficult to calculate” for its adversaries, according to the deputy commander‑in‑chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

General Ahmad Vahidi made the comments on Wednesday during a speech at a scientific festival at the University of Tehran, responding to renewed threats of military action issued by American officials.

Referring to an assessment by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London, Vahidi said the global community acknowledges the significant qualitative transformation in Iran’s military strength.

He stated that Iran’s defense power has advanced so extensively in recent years that evaluating the potential costs and benefits of any attack on Iran has become highly complicated for its enemies.

Vahidi emphasized that domestic technological progress and reduced reliance on foreign powers have greatly strengthened Iran’s deterrence capabilities.

He also addressed the wide‑ranging pressures imposed on Iran, including economic sanctions, military threats, and an ongoing cognitive warfare campaign led by Western governments.

According to Vahidi, the enemy uses psychological, political, and economic tools to instill fear and undermine social cohesion within Iran.

He added that despite economic hardship, military intimidation, and psychological warfare, the Iranian people once again demonstrated resilience, referencing the large anti‑riot demonstrations in early January.

Reflecting on past events, Vahidi said foreign plots have repeatedly failed.

He noted that enemies believed they could weaken or dismantle the Islamic Republic through pressure, but experiences such as the eight‑year Sacred Defense and the recent 12‑day war proved that such pressures only strengthened the Islamic Revolution.

The IRGC commander criticized Western governments for supporting recent terrorist riots in Iran, expressing surprise at what he called the “ignorance and audacity” of officials who defend such actions.

He said that while atrocities against the people of Gaza are met with silence or support from some Western states, those same governments condemn Iran’s legitimate defensive measures.

Vahidi concluded that these “double standards” reflect a deep moral and ethical decline in Western societies, which he described as a sign of their eventual collapse.
